Ignition Edge – SCADA and data collection at the machine
In short: Ignition Edge makes it possible to collect data and show screens right at the machine or out in the field – and pass everything on to a central server. After Inductive Automation's changes, you get more functionality as standard, in just two simple packages.
Ignition Edge is a lightweight edition of Ignition made to run close to the equipment – on an industrial PC in a cabinet, at a machine or at a remote site. There it collects data, performs calculations locally and sends the results on to a central Ignition server.
More included as standard
Inductive Automation has simplified Edge and the licences that come with it:
- No limit on the number of tags and PLC connections.
- Sync Services are included, so data and alarms can be synchronised with a central server.
- EAM (Enterprise Administration Module) is included, so the Edge node can be monitored and updated from a central server.
- Five weeks of local history, up from one week – useful if the connection to the central server drops.
Two packages to choose from
Edge IIoT
Suits you when you want to collect data and perform calculations locally, and send them on to external or central servers using MQTT – a lightweight and robust protocol for industrial IoT.
Edge Panel
Includes everything in Edge IIoT, plus two local clients built on HTML5. The screens can be opened on PC, tablet and mobile – for example as an operator panel at the machine.
When does Edge fit?
Edge is a good choice when equipment is spread out, when data needs to be collected and buffered locally, or when a machine needs its own screen without a full Ignition server. With Elio's experience, we can shorten development time and get the solution running quickly.
